From June 24 to August 30, 2024

Sorbonne Artgallery is pleased to present the exhibition "LIFE QUICKLY" by Patrick Érouart, from June 24 to August 30, 2024.

At first glance, Patrick Erouart's notebooks appear colorful and disjointed. There's a sense of accident in these layouts, between profusion and splintering. Nevertheless, they tick all the boxes of the genre's definition. They include travelogues, critiques of literary and cultural life, and moral, autobiographical or political reflections. They are diaries, following a tradition dating back to the end of the 17th century, when Cardinal de Retz, Saint-Simon and Furetière set out to record the events of which they were contemporaries. It's also a collection of everyday snapshots. Following in the footsteps of cubist collages, Patrick Erouart plucks bits of magazines, transport tickets, receipts and business cards from reality. He glues together these bits and pieces of his existence, juxtaposing, scribbling, commenting on and putting into perspective a set of fragments. A restless aesthetic emerges from this impulsive work, testifying to the urgency and emotion contained in these minutiae

Nine compositions from the artist's notebooks, which she has kept daily for many years, will be on display. The vernissage will take place on Monday June 24, 2024, from 6:30 pm to 9 pm, in the presence of the artist. Located in the heart of the university, in the Soufflot wing, Sorbonne Artgallery is accessible via the entrance at 12 place du Panthéon. We look forward to welcoming you to this event. The exhibition runs from June 24 to September 20, 2024.
